Chiara Bugatti (b.1991, IT ) is an artist living and working in Stockholm.
She holds a BFA and MFA respectively from the Academies of Fine Arts in Venice (Italy, 2014) and Umeå (Sweden, 2016) and a Postmaster from the Roy- al Institute of Art in Stockholm (Sweden, 2021).

Her practice is deeply rooted in an exploration of materiality, engaging with questions of monumentality, permanence, possession, and power. Within the built environment, human desires and ambitions take tangible form—just as do failures, refusals, flaws, and obsolescence. Bugatti examines these topics through interventions that extend beyond the sculptural object, moving into performative realms where movement, gesture, spatiality, and storytelling be- come integral to the work. Stripped of their primary functions, materials become essential tools in her practice, used to interrogate the space we inhabit and reveal its syntax and vulnerable structures.

Her work has recently been exhibited at the Greenlight Triennial in Norway, Haninge Konsthall, Carl Eldh’s Ateljémuseum, Mint Konsthall, and Uppsala and Borås Art Museums in Sweden, as well as at Fabrikken for Kunst og Design in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Stuttgart Art Museum in Germany. She was recently a grant holder at IASPIS in Stockholm, a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, and an artist-in-residence at FFKD in Copenha- gen and the EIB in Luxembourg. Together with Italian-German choreographer Alessandro Giaquinto she has collaborated on two ballets, which premiered respectively at Schauspielhaus Staatstheater Stuttgart and HNK Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
